What a Night!

Well we set out to make our Grand Opening Bash on Saturday our best party ever. It didn’t disappoint. The turnout was amazing.  Thanks to everyone for coming. We hope that you got a tour of the space and a chance to see some of the things and projects we get up to. We even had a 4-legged visitor checking out our new common room and space.

Our new kitchen was a hive of activity. Thanks to everyone who brought in food and helped with the catering. We had so many visitors that we ran out of Pizza dough by 9PM. That never happens. Our very own Dr Tri came to the rescue with her secret quick dough recipe (patent and patents pending What a Night! ). In the end, we think that everyone was fed and watered. Our TOG beer and wine went down a treat. Some snaps are on our gallery.

We’ll be working away on the construction of our new rooms and sorting our stuff over the next few weeks. Be sure to stay in touch with us on our various social media, web and email outlets. If you like us so much that you want to join up as a member, sign up the form here and we’ll be in touch. Hope to see you again soon.

Grand Opening Party

Come along on Saturday 30th January at 7PM to TOG’s Birthday party, January Open Social and Grand Opening Bash…… all rolled into one. We want to to make it our best party ever.

We moved from our old place in Chancery Lane in November. Now we’re up and running in our new space at 22 Blackpitts. Come in and catch up with us. We’ll give you a tour of our fantastic new space. Our very own brewers are promising TOG beer and other samples for you to try. Weather permitting, you might get to cook your own pizza on TOG’s very own pizza oven. Try your hand at some lock picking, but be warned…. it’s addictive. There’s some great project ideas in the works by some of our members….. making guitars, a dedicated brew room and another Art show to name but a few.

The space stays open until the last member is left……usually the small hours of Sunday morning. The open social is free to attend for members and visitors alike. Our doors will be open from 7pm. Drop in for 10 minutes, or stay the whole night. We have parking available. Bring beer, food, gadgets! Hope to see you there.

UPDATE: As is tradition, our very own Schrodinger invites the world : New year, new space, new TOG. Let’s PARTY!!

UPDATE 2: Check out the story in Silicon Republic about us. Tog’s seventh birthday party a maker’s delight

CAD and Electronics is back

Our regular joint CAD and Electronics evening is kicking off again next Monday 18th January at 19:00. We’ve had a break while we moved to our new space at 22 Blackpitts. Now we’re ready to go again ☺. Come in and catch up with us. We’ll give you a tour of our fantastic new space. This evening is open to anyone  with an interest in CAD or Electronics. Everyone from absolute beginner to experienced is welcome. Look forward to seeing all of our old friends and new visitors.

The End of Chancery Lane

All good things come to an end, or so the saying goes. And so it is with TOG’s lease on Chancery Lane. It’s time to shut up shop. After 31st October, Chancery Lane will be no more. The place has been good to us. We will have great memories of the last 5+ years there. So we need to give the place a good ‘ol send off. We’ll be having our last open social there on Saturday 17th October from 19:00, and we want to make it a big bash. Come in and cook your last pizza. Drink your last beer and marvel at how much junk we’ve cleaned out of the place.

Check out TOG 3.0

We have a new space all lined up and waiting. We have great plans and we’re very excited. Come along to the social and we’ll tell you more. If you’ve never been to the social, or even TOG itself, you’ll find it a great alternative Saturday evening in town. Look around….talk to members and visitors about projects or things you’d like to do. Talk about beer brewing to some of our brewer members or about locks to our lock pickers. Ask about joining as a full member. If you’ve been promising yourself that you must go to an open social one of these days, then this will be your last chance. There’ll never be another one in Chancery lane…… never, ever, never, never, ever ever again The End of Chancery Lane

The space stays open until the last member is left……usually the small hours of Sunday morning. The open social is free to attend for members and visitors alike. Our doors will be open from 7pm.

August Open Social

It’s Open Social time again…. this coming Saturday 15th Aug. At the last Open Social in July, we were just a week away from Dublin Maker. The place was hectic with activity. This Open Social will see Toggers much more relaxed. Drop in and hang out for the evening. If you’ve never been to the social, or even TOG itself, you’ll find it a great alternative Saturday evening in town. Look around….talk to members and visitors about projects or things you’d like to do.

Dublin Maker Wind-down BBQ & en-Pizza-ing

Can’t you feel the excitement in the air?! Dublin Maker is on this Saturday! From bitter experience we know that all the Makers will be at Panic Stations this entire week. And as we here at TOG are a caring bunch, we’ll be holding our traditional post-Dublin-Maker BBQ (now with added pizza!) on Sunday, 26th July, from 2pm-5pm.

It will be a chance for the Makers to unwind in an understanding and supportive environment. But it’s not just an event for official Dublin Makers! Now is a great opportunity to finally take a look around TOG, or to get to know our members better. It’s a chance for anyone, and everyone, to chill out with some interesting people, who do interesting things, while filling their bellies. So come one, come all, satisfy your curiosity, and your appetites!

July Open Social

It’s the middle of the month, it’s Saturday and its 7PM. That can only mean one thing. It’s TOG Open Social again. This Open Social will see us just one week away from Dublin Maker. You’ll get to see a sneak preview of some of the things that we’ll be bringing to our stand.

Apart from that, it will be the usual relaxed hang out. It’s a great way to see the space and to meet other members & visitors. If you’ve never been to the social, you’ll find it a great alternative Saturday evening in town.

Hopefully there’ll be pizza, music and much more. The space stays open until the last member is left……usually the small hours of Sunday morning. The open social is free to attend for members and visitors alike. Our doors will be open from 7pm.

Pizza Oven 1.1

Our pizza oven was built as a bit of a hack over Christmas and New Year. After 5 months of operation, a bit of maintenance and a few minor mods were in order. A better flue, some re-jigging of insulation and foil and some re-pointing of bricks were done.

On Saturday 20th June, we fired it up for our regular open social event. It all worked as good as usual and everyone got fed! We had plenty of first time visitors to TOG too, who got the grand tour of the space. They’ve been keeping in touch with us on meetup and twitter. Pics of the maintenance here.

New CAD group starting this Monday & running every two weeks (7pm till 9pm).

Starting this New CAD group starting this Monday & running every two weeks (7pm till 9pm).Monday & running every second Monday (alongside Electronics and Micro Controller Group night) is the CAD group. Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer systems to assist in the creation, modification, analysis or optimization of a design. CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing.

Come alongNew CAD group starting this Monday & running every two weeks (7pm till 9pm). if you have experience with or are interested in vector design, photography & photo manipulation, 3D design, print design & preparation, digital design, web design & CSS front end web manipulation, or anything else related!

This isn’t a class or instruction. It will be a relaxed informal atmosphere with other like-minded people. So the idea is to bring your Laptop, maybe some CAD software installed on, some tutorials, web links, instructions…. Or just come along with the project in your head – anything you like. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced designer….just work on whatever you want to, and hopefully get some “bounce” off other people doing similar things. Several TOG members will be around too.

During CAD meetings we will try to utilize many of Tog CAD hardware & equipment, such as:New CAD group starting this Monday & running every two weeks (7pm till 9pm).

  • Laser cutter,
  • 3D printer,
  • Plotter,
  • large scale printer,
  • screen printing developing box,
  • photo lab.

There is no need to sign in for the class, just come along with your laptop. here is no charge for attending, although you will be asked to pay for any usage of hardware & materials, just to cover the cost of replacement parts & materials. Always make sure to be prepared to pay for your own usage, we can help you to estimate the cost fo you beforehand.
