We are having an informal “brewing equipment day” on March 12th in the new TOG space at 2pm. The goal is to meet up for a few hours to clean up a corner to store the brewing equipment. This is an opportunity for people who had offered to donate brewing equipment to TOG to bring in their gear and give it a home. We will also be giving tours of the space to show anyone around who hasn’t seen the space yet. In short this is what we will be doing:
– Clean up the potential brewing corner
– Give tours of the space to those who haven’t seen it yet
– Make an inventory of all of the brewing equipment
– Label all of the equipment
– Make a plan/list of what else we need if anything
– Pick a date for the first brew-day of the new space
The goal of the brewers within TOG is to establish and maintain a high end brewing system to give brewers of all levels access to equipment that they might not have at home. This would enable all members to brew beer, wine, mead or cider in the space without needing to own any equipment, they merely need to purchase ingredients. As the spring/summer approaches we will start up the monthly brew days again with a bit more structure. We will brew a beer in advance for the open socials along with members brewing their own beer too.
At the stroke of midnight just past, the original TOG organisation that was started back in 2009 ceased to be. At our AGM in January, we voted to wind up that organisation. From today, our new TOG Hackerspace DAC will continue to take us forward.
Last summer we started a process of building a new legal and organisational structure that would better serve the members and the organisation itself. We started a new company with a new constitution, elected directors and moved to a new space with a new lease. We set up a new bank account, created a new method for members to join and restarted all of our regular evenings and events. If you’re interested in joining us, drop in to see us anytime or contact us online. We’ll be glad to give you a tour of our space and tell you about some of our activities.
We are delighted to have been accepted to showcase our projects at Maker Faire UK. Being the largest Maker Faire in the UK, its a huge gathering of all sorts of makers. We always have a great time talking to the public and seeing our fellow hackerspaces.
This will be our 4th year showing casing at the event. Last year we were trilled to find other Irish makers also there (Mint Tek). We hope this year will be no different.
This year we will be showing a range of wearables and a arduino powered panel clock. We are super proud that our project from last year is now featured on the Maker Faire UK home page. Can you tell which one it is ?
We are still carrying out building work on our new space. The big project at the moment is enclosing the workshop. We have three new walls to build. As part of this project we are getting some must have tools for any workshop. Check out the new extractor below. If you have any tools or equipment you think we could make good use, do get in touch.
Our February Open Social takes place this weekend on Saturday 20th February at 7PM.
If you came to our Grand Opening Bash in January, you’ll know what a mega event that was. This months regular open social will probably be a bit of a more “normal” affair, if our open socials could ever be called normal. Come in and catch up with us. We’ll give you a tour of our fantastic new space. The open social is a great informal way to visit us. You can talk to members and visitors, see what’s going on, or just hang out for the evening.
The space stays open until the last member is left……usually the small hours of Sunday morning. The open social is free to attend for members and visitors alike. Our doors will be open from 7pm. Drop in for 10 minutes, or stay the whole night. We have parking available. Bring beer, food, gadgets! If you like the place, ask about joining as a member. Hope to see you there.
Well we set out to make our Grand Opening Bash on Saturday our best party ever. It didn’t disappoint. The turnout was amazing. Thanks to everyone for coming. We hope that you got a tour of the space and a chance to see some of the things and projects we get up to. We even had a 4-legged visitor checking out our new common room and space.
Our new kitchen was a hive of activity. Thanks to everyone who brought in food and helped with the catering. We had so many visitors that we ran out of Pizza dough by 9PM. That never happens. Our very own Dr Tri came to the rescue with her secret quick dough recipe (patent and patents pending ). In the end, we think that everyone was fed and watered. Our TOG beer and wine went down a treat. Some snaps are on our gallery.
We’ll be working away on the construction of our new rooms and sorting our stuff over the next few weeks. Be sure to stay in touch with us on our various social media, web and email outlets. If you like us so much that you want to join up as a member, sign up the form here and we’ll be in touch. Hope to see you again soon.
I am happy to announce Lockpicking will be returning to its bi-weekly scheduled meetings this Tuesday 26th of Jan at 7:30pm. For those of you lucky enough to get picks from Christmas, bring them along. Fancying learning how to pick? Drop by and have a go at lockpicking. We have ever dwindling supply of loaner picks, so we should be able to loan you something.
Also on the horizon is a regular Lockpicking 101 class taught by our elite team of pickers. Stop laughing! Watch this space

See you on Tuesday
For our first Board Game Night of 2016 – in our brand new space, we’re breaking with tradition and featuring three new games for our next meetup!
The three games we’ve selected are all Spiel de Jahres winners and are great gateway games for those interested in modern or european style board games.
As they’ve each been previously featured on Geek & Sundry’s TableTop with Wil Wheaton, you can watch episodes in advance to see how the games are played and just how fun they are!
Of course as usual, you can still come along with any board or card game of your own you want to play with others.
So join us to play games on Friday 5th of February from 6:30pm in Tog’s new home in 22 Blackpitts, Dublin 8
Come along on Saturday 30th January at 7PM to TOG’s Birthday party, January Open Social and Grand Opening Bash…… all rolled into one. We want to to make it our best party ever.
We moved from our old place in Chancery Lane in November. Now we’re up and running in our new space at 22 Blackpitts. Come in and catch up with us. We’ll give you a tour of our fantastic new space. Our very own brewers are promising TOG beer and other samples for you to try. Weather permitting, you might get to cook your own pizza on TOG’s very own pizza oven. Try your hand at some lock picking, but be warned…. it’s addictive. There’s some great project ideas in the works by some of our members….. making guitars, a dedicated brew room and another Art show to name but a few.
The space stays open until the last member is left……usually the small hours of Sunday morning. The open social is free to attend for members and visitors alike. Our doors will be open from 7pm. Drop in for 10 minutes, or stay the whole night. We have parking available. Bring beer, food, gadgets! Hope to see you there.

We have been transforming our new space over the last 6 weeks. We now have walls o/ . Our plan is split over a number of phases, to start off with we are building rooms 1, 2, 3 and a kitchen as outlined in the drawing below. Room 1 will be our new common room. This will be the most used room in the whole space and the centre of everything. Room 2 will be our new classroom. It will be bookable for special events and courses. Room 3 will be our fabrication room. It will hold things like our laser cutter , 3D printers and so on. Our kitchen will be at the front of the building getting natural light for enjoying a cup of tea.
We have now reopened to the public with our regular group nights, so drop by and check out our new space.
