Brown Dog Gadgets on Kickstarter

Kickstarter

Joshua is a recent addition to Milwaukee Makerspace, and as we mentioned before, he runs a kit company called BrownDogGadgets. Well, the latest on Joshua is a Kickstarter campaign he’s running… and yeah, did we mention it’s over $71,000 now!?

He originally had a goal of $5,000 but the backers showed up in force to support his Folding USB Solar Cell project, and even though it’s been cloudy and raining all week here in Milwaukee, it’s all sunshine and smiles at the success of the campaign so far.

Check it out on Kickstarter if you’re into solar power, got an iPhone you need charged, or just like brown dogs. :)

‘Build a kit for Xmas’ night – Thursday 13 December

Wanting to find that perfect Christmas present? Want to give something that you have made?

At this workshop on Thursday, 13 December, you can learn how to build any of the kits available, from Drawdios to RGD lights to Bat Detectors!

We will also have Marble Runs and more available!

This session will run from 7pm onwards, and the only cost will be the cost of the kits. People will be there to help you learn how to solder and build, ensuring that your kit is running perfectly.

The Gentle(wo)man Hacker’s RC Airplane

If you’re like me, the RC aviation hobby is as fascinating as it is costly.  In the two videos below that we produced for element14 though, we cover how to convert a $10 foam glider into a great training flier and then get even more bleeding edge with a cheap-but-good-for-the-price setup for flying UAV style with a pistol grip camcorder mounted to the plane that transmits to a screen on the ground.  Dan Meyer with the help of Ken Zinnen walk you through some of the many exciting  facets of radio controlled airplanes.
